"Virginia's Right-to-Work laws help keep labor costs predictable and manageable for employers. This stability is crucial for businesses of all sizes but especially small and medium-sized businesses to plan operating budgets and remain competitive in attracting both talent and customers."
"Maintaining Virginia's Right-to-Work laws support a business-friendly climate that encourages investment and expansion. If repealed, businesses could face increased costs due to mandatory union fees and dues, which may discourage companies from relocating or growing within the state."
"Virginia's status as a Right-to-Work state must be protected. Right-to-Work provides flexibility that helps attract and retain businesses by lowering the overall cost of labor and fostering a more competitive market."
"As the only Hispanic woman-owned fuel logistics and IT enterprise in the U.S., I know how important it is to protect choice and opportunity in the workplace. Virginia’s Right-to-Work laws have allowed small businesses like mine to grow and hire locally, while giving employees the freedom to decide what’s best for themselves and their families."
"We operate in multiple states, including some that are not Right-to-Work. Virginia’s Right-to-Work laws are one of the reasons we continue to invest here. They ensure a level playing field, support worker choice, and help attract top talent to our projects."
"Right-to-Work allows our HVAC technicians, pipe fitters, sheet metal workers and plumbers to decide what’s best for themselves regarding union membership while helping us manage costs and grow our workforce. This allows me to focus on running my business and our employees focused on safety, quality, and job performance."
“Virginia’s Right-to-Work laws protect individual freedom of choice in the workplace and help maintain a competitive, pro-business environment. Repealing them could jeopardize our ability to attract new investment, limit job growth, and undermine the economic momentum that has made Virginia a top destination for business."
“Right-to-Work is essential in allowing small employers to remain competitive with larger employers who have the staffing and organizational structure to navigate government regulations. It also keeps Virginia competitive with other states in attracting and maintaining employers in Virginia.”
“Virginia's agribusiness industry feeds, fuels, and clothes the Commonwealth, which we will continue to do if we can maintain an environment that encourages investment and job growth. Our members have consistently supported Right-to-Work laws that make our state more attractive to agribusinesses looking to expand or relocate, from grain processors to food manufacturers. These laws send a clear message that Virginia values worker freedom, economic competitiveness, and the continued strength of our farm and forestry industries.”
"The Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce supports Virginia’s Right-to-Work laws as an essential part of our pro-business climate. This policy safeguards employee choice while helping to attract new investment, encouraging business expansion, and strengthening our competitive position for long-term economic growth both here in Virginia's Blue Ridge and across the Commonwealth. Let's keep Virginia working."
"As a small retail business in Virginia, one way that we are able to compete with larger retailers is through our employee benefits. We provide paid sick and vacation time, offer better than most healthcare, have a 401(k) plan and are flexible when people need extra time off to spend with family for health reasons (in spite of NOT qualifying for the Family and Medical Leave Act). Repealing Right-to-Work in Virginia could lead to our inability to be this flexible if we are required to have our people join unions, pay dues become beholden to the benefits negotiated by the union on their behalf. If asked, my people will tell you that part of why they like working for a small business is for our flexibility and understanding. Cost not withstanding - and the cost to my employees is, indeed, also a concern – Right-to-Work makes all of Virginia a more attractive place to own and run a business. Please don't repeal it."
“This would severely damage Virginia's ability to manufacture and fabricate products. Sure, companies can adapt, and the customer will pay for it. But we’ll also likely see a mass exodus of large manufacturers moving to West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee — states that have just adopted Right-To-Work in the last decade (W.Va. 2016, Ky. 2017). A large number of multimillion-dollar companies could easily move from Winchester, Roanoke, and up and down I-81 to the West Virginia border. Companies across Hampton Roads, Emporia, Danville, even Richmond can easily relocate south of the border. Repeal of Right-to-Work would ravage Virginia.”
